The Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (AMU) is the leading art school in the Czech Republic and its broad scope makes it a unique art and educational institution in Central Europe. AMU offers education in theatrical, cinematic and TV art as well as in music and dance.
AMU’s inherently international nature and openness foster the mutually enriching exchange of creative and educational experience and ideas and help to maintain and develop the portfolio of foreign language programmes at AMU. AMU’s offer of programmes in English for international applicants is continuously expanding. We offer international students many bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree programmes as well as short-term courses and stays .
AMU is involved in many international professional networks and creative and research projects, and is a member of many international professional associations. It cooperates with major art schools int he Czech Republic as part of shared projects.
All three of AMU’s Faculties (Theatre Faculty – DAMU, Film and TV School – FAMU, and Music and Dance Faculty – HAMU) provide both organisational and financial support for various international activities of both students and employees: study stays, hands-on internships, employee mobility involving educational stays and staff training as part of Erasmus+ and beyond, and attendance in seminars, workshops, courses and festivals in both European and other countries. As part of its international collaborations, AMU has entered into more than 200 agreements with partner schools under the Erasmus+ programme as well as multiple bilateral agreements with partner schools in countries outside Europe. The principal sources of financial support for international activities are the Erasmus+ Programme and the International Cooperation Programme as part of the Institutional Plan, though the overall offer of mobility programmes is quite diverse. One of the frequently used internal scholarship programmes of AMU, the Programme in Support of International Short-term Mobility for AMU’s Doctoral Programme Students provides financing for students to cover their trips abroad to attend conferences, workshops and festivals, visit libraries and archives, and consult international experts.
