Dear students, colleagues, teachers, and esteemed guests,
In this section of the website, you will find not only useful guides but also links to manuals and videos that may come in handy even in everyday life. All this information is part of preventive measures and precautions and concerns both the physical world (the AMU buildings) and the virtual world (the internet).
Everything we do at AMU is consulted with security experts, members of the Integrated Rescue System, the Czech Police, and the Fire Rescue Service. We believe that the more people know how to behave in critical situations and how to help others, the better prepared we all will be to avoid such situations. However, if they do occur (which none of us wishes), then our reactions—yours and ours—will help us get through them with as few problems as possible.
The system is used for mass sending of messages and emails, enabling us to contact all students, teachers, and employees for whom we have contact information, via text messages with updates on the current situation and possible instructions for further actions.
It is used when it is necessary to notify a large number of people at once, for example in case of danger.
Upon receiving an SMS message, remain calm and inform those around you, but do not take the information lightly.
Messages are also sent in English.
From a safety perspective, it is essential to leave the dangerous area as quickly as possible, or to hide in a safe place and minimize attention (silence, securing the space). At the same time, it is important to immediately notify emergency services and follow police instructions.
A preventive video by the Czech Police shows how to react in the event of an attack by an active shooter.
Run, Hide, Fight!
In case of fire, it is crucial to immediately begin evacuation along the marked escape routes, avoid using elevators, and protect yourself from smoke. It is also necessary to warn others, call firefighters, inform the reception desk without delay, and follow the evacuation instructions of emergency services.
For serious injuries, we recommend downloading the Záchranka app, which allows for quick and effective emergency calls, primarily for the Emergency Medical Service. The app also includes instructions for administering first aid. Besides Czech, the app and emergency services can also be used in English, German, Polish, Ukrainian, and Vietnamese.
In the event of a blackout, it is important to remain calm, avoid dangerous areas such as elevators or dark staircases, refrain from risky activities, and follow the instructions of evacuation coordinators. More useful information on safe behavior during a blackout can be found here.
During an evacuation, follow the green evacuation arrows and comply with the instructions of evacuation coordinators.
An assembly point is a predetermined safe place where people from an endangered building gather during an evacuation so that their presence can be checked and further steps arranged.
Assembly point for DAMU: Mariánské náměstí
Assembly point for FAMU: by the Kranner Fountain in the Park of National Awakening on Smetanovo nábřeží
Assembly point for HAMU + Rectorate: Malostranské náměstí in front of the Senate building
If you need psychological support, contact school psychologists or designated crisis hotlines. All useful information regarding psychological support (not only in crisis situations) can be found here (in English).
