OPENING SELECTION OF CANDIDATES FOR APPOINTMENT AS RECTOR OF AMU FOR 2025–2029 TERM OF OFFICE
Pursuant to Article 3, clause 1 of the Procedural Rules of the Academic Senate of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, as applicable, the Academic Senate of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (“AS AMU”) has decided on 9 September 2024 to open the selection of the candidates for appointment as the Rector of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (“AMU”) for the 2025–2029 term of office.
Under the Procedural Rules of AS AMU, the candidates for the position of the Rector may be nominated by:
a) Academic Senates of the individual Faculties,
b) Artistic Councils of the individual Faculties,
c) Dean’s Collegia of the individual Faculties,
d) One-third of all members of AS AMU,
e) 20% of students of any Faculty or 7% of all AMU students who sign the nomination and attach their dates of birth next to their signatures (

The deadline for the submission of nominations is 21 October 2024 (the date of the postal stamp is decisive). The nominations are to be submitted to the attention of the Chair of AS AMU MgA. Michal Lázňovský, Ph.D., either in written (letter) form to be delivered to Malostranské náměstí 259/12, 118 00 Praha 1, or electronically to be sent to michal.laznovsky@damu.cz.
The candidates shall submit the following documents in written (letter) form to the attention of the Chair of AS AMU at Malostranské náměstí 259/ 12, 118 00 Praha 1, by 4 November 2024:
Written consent to their candidacy and to the posting of their conception and CV on www.amu.cz,
Conception of their anticipated activities in the event of their appointment in writing, to the extent of maximum 10 pages, in four copies, as well as electronically,
CV to the extent of one (1) page maximum, in four copies, as well as electronically,
Certified copy of the original certificate as specified in Section 9(1) of Act No. 451/1991 and a solemn declaration as specified in Section 4(3) of Act No. 451/1991(

The Chair of AS AMU shall send one copy of the Conception and CV from each candidate to the Chair of each Faculty’s Academic Senate and a copy of the Conception and CV in electronic form to each member of AS AMU.
I hereby summon a meeting of the Academic Community of AMU, during which the candidates will introduce themselves and their Conceptions and answer questions from the members of the Academic Community, to B. Martinů Hall, Malostranské náměstí 258/13, Praha 1 for Monday, 2 December 2024 from 4:00 pm.
AS AMU will decide on the proposal for the appointment of the Rector of AMU on the same day, 2 December 2024.
