STATEMENT OF THE ACADEMIC SENATE OF AMU ON THE HUMANITARIAN CATASTROPHE IN GAZA AND ON REJECTING ANTISEMITISM AND ISLAMOPHOBIA WITHIN AMU

As members of the Academic Senate of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, we are deeply concerned about the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe and escalation of violence in the Gaza Strip.

We express our solidarity with all civilian victims of this conflict, with humanitarian and medical workers, journalists, and the suffering civilian population. We also express solidarity with the victims of Hamas attack on Israeli civilians and their families.

We call for respect for International Humanitarian Law and for ensuring safe and unhindered access to humanitarian aid for all those in need.

As an academic institution founded on the principles of humanity, freedom, and respect, we consider it essential that our university remain a space for open dialogue, critical thinking, and mutual understanding.

We therefore firmly reject any manifestations of Antisemitism, Islamophobia, or other forms of hatred and discrimination within AMU. We believe that respect for human dignity and for diversity in all its forms is a fundamental prerequisite for a free and safe academic environment.
