THE ACADEMIC SENATE OF THE ACADEMY OF PERFORMING ARTS IN PRAGUE JOINS THE RESOLUTION OF THE ACADEMIC SENATE OF DAMU ON THE THREAT TO THE INDEPENDENCE OF CZECH TELEVISION.

AS DAMU expresses concern about threats to the independence of Czech Television and ongoing efforts to weaken this key public service media outlet.

The AS DAMU also expresses its support for presenter Václav Moravec and all employees of Czech Television who are striving to preserve the independence of ČT and are exposed to political pressure. We consider independent public media to be a fundamental pillar of a free democratic society. In the post-factual era, it is essential to support critical thinking and independent, fact-based reporting, as this is the only way to navigate objectively in a rapidly changing world. The AS DAMU therefore also calls on the Czech Television Council to ensure that Czech Television remains independent, to fully respect its legal powers, and to act openly and transparently.

With this resolution, the AS DAMU follows up on the AS DAMU Statement on the Threat to the Independence of Czech Television and Expression of Support for Presenter Václav Moravec of December 18, 2025, and on the Statement of the FAMU Academic Senate: The independence of Czech Television is under threat. In the resolution, FAMU senators stood up for their colleague, presenter Václav Moravec, on December 13, 2025.
