GRADUATE PERFORMANCE – THE ARTISTIC PART OF THE THESIS

For most programmes of study at AMU, the graduate performance constitutes part of the thesis. Through the graduate performance, students demonstrate the level of their artistic or scholarly work by creating an original artwork, artistic performance or scholarly project.

The assignment and parameters of the graduate performance are determined by the faculty upon the recommendation of the department head in accordance with faculty rules, and, as the case may be, in consideration of a proposal by the student.

ASSIGNMENT OF THE GRADUATE PERFORMANCE

The assignment shall contain the title and a brief description of the graduate performance, the name of its supervisor and the latest date of its realisation.
The assignment shall come to fruition upon its entry into the KOS information system. The entry must comply with certain rules. Not all information can be part of the title, which – particularly in the case of many interpreted works – should be formulated generally.

REALISATION OF THE GRADUATE PERFORMANCE

The graduate performance shall be realised in accordance with the study plan at one of AMU’s facilities no later than 5 working days prior the date of its defence .

In exceptional cases, students may also realise their graduate performance outside AMU or within a shorter period prior to the defence. However, this requires prior written consent by the Dean of the faculty.

(In the case of a graduate performance which constitutes part of a doctoral dissertation, it must be realised no later than 30 working days prior the date of the defence, regardless of the place of realisation.)

In certain cases, students will additionally submit a recorded or unrecorded artwork or artistic performance. For clarity, these are indicated in the KOS academic information system with the capital letters B through E as follows:

• "B" Text of a play, screenplay, photograph, projects, documentation, samples of work, etc.
• "C" Audio-visual recording of a play, film, video recording, etc.
• "D" Interpretive performance (recorded concert, conducted performance, directed or choreographic interpretation, dance performance, acting performance)
• "E" Composition
